The big question is “do targeted ads emit more emissions than broad based advertising?” I do not know but maybe it does since there are so many touches required for it to work

……………identifies that she bought a bike and know it is the harley davidson brand
……………knows that she still owns and uses it
……………designs a creative that speaks to her needs and wants
……………decides what talent to portray in the creative we want to show her
……………chooses when to show her the creative and how often
……………ensures a data center can process the transaction load to sell, buy and air the creative
……………ensures the device that will receive the ad is powered and ready
……………confirms that the creative was truly served to her or not
……………confirms that she bought the energy drink…if the message worked
