The flywheel Effect

The flywheel effect is when one win builds the next and the next and the next till each part of our wheel is literarily feeding each other. A few things seem to be true regardless of the outcome from it:

  1. Simple Outcome: Be clear on the outcome you want to achieve. My wife and kids help check if I am clear or dillusional.
  2. Obsess over “why, why, why”: Relentlessly understand the fundamental driver of the behavior you’re seeking to change. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a wonderful starting point.
  3. Experiment to know: you don’t know what you don’t know till you know it
  4. Discipline is a must: know what works and stick to it
  5. Know your limits, live within it or change it: be clear on your principles, strengths and conditions you are are willing to live with in service to the outcome you seek.
  6. Occasionally reflect on doomsday: Mentally reflect (2x a year) on what can change the flywheel

So what are you waiting for, get a pen, a paper and see if you understand your flywheel.
